Networking

The built-in Intel AC 9560 wireless adapter works flawlessly on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands.

This T490 also has a standard Ethernet network port on the right side (at the back).  

  

Refurbishing

This laptop came to me in excellent condition except that it did not have a storage drive or battery.  Besides installing a brand-new Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500 GB NVMe SSD and a good used battery, I also installed a new Crucial 16 GB memory module to bring the total RAM installed to 32 GB (including the original 16 GB soldered to the motherboard). 

 

I then applied a fresh coat of Artic MX-4 thermal compound to the CPU to help it run cooler.  Normally I would also clean the fan and the entire inside, but with this computer, there was nothing to clean -- it was pristine inside, which makes me think that this computer hardly ever used.

 

I then installed Windows 10 Pro version 22H2 64-Bit (which is digitally activated) and all available driver and system updates from Microsoft, Lenovo, and Intel.  Afterwards I thoroughly tested the computer including the battery and all ports and features. 

 

About the Battery

Most sellers on eBay do not take the time to test batteries, but I always do a full rundown test to make sure they are in good condition before I offer a laptop for sale.  This laptop has one internal battery that is in very good condition, still holds more than 87% of its design capacity, and my testing shows that it will run this laptop for about 10 hours, depending on how it is used of course.

 

For Sake of Completeness

This laptop is not new and does show some very minor signs of prior use:  it has some very light scuffs on the exterior case, but there is nothing broken or missing or cracked, and the overall condition is near perfect.

 

Other Notes

Windows 11:  This computer is fully compatible with and can be upgraded to Windows 11 at any time at no cost via Windows Update.

Manufacturer Warranty:  nearing its end but this computer is covered by Lenovo until 3/25/23.
