This Mac was in daily use as my backup machine until yesterday! (March 4). But ebay is forcing me to list it as "for parts".

The sordid story:

We got our money's worth out of it.  My friend bought it new back in early 2011.  He upgraded in '14, and sold it to me.  Between financial constraints and the bulletproof nature of the machine, I kept it as my "daily driver" for another several years, finally moving to  a new M1 MB Pro in late 2021.  Since then, it has lived on as a secondary machine in the basement workshop.

Some of these machines suffered from a motherboard defect, and this one was replaced under warranty back in its early days.  The hard drive died four years ago and was replaced with an SSD, which I have harvested for use in an external case.  So it is being sold with NO HARD DRIVE of any sort.  Adding one is easy... unscrew the bottom cover and install the hardware, then hold Cmd-R during boot, and it will boot into the web-based disk utility to allow an OS install.

Just a month after installing the SSD, it suffered a drop to the concrete floor... causing the bent case seen in the last pic.  The ethernet port is not usable because of this.  Otherwise, I never had issues. in four years since the drop.

The battery is original.  It's near end-of-life... but the machine still runs for maybe an hour on battery.  Screen is good, with no dead pixels, good backlighting, etc.

The Specs:
 - Mid-201 A1286 15" MacBook Pro
 - Core i7 processor (2.8 Ghz, I believe)
 - 4Gb RAM (I think - forgot to check before dismantling)
 - NO HARD DISK INSTALLED.  Uses a standard SATA 2.5" drive
 - 8x Superdrive 2-layer DVD/CD slot-loading drive
 - SD card slot

It comes with an original Apple Magsafe charger, but no discs, box, or paperwork.

I'll also toss in the off-brand Mini-Displayport adapter which allows attaching to either an HDMI or VGA external display.
