Apple MacBook Pro 16" (1TB SSD, M1 Max 32-core GPU, 3,2 GHz, 32GB RAM) Laptop.

Immaculate condition. Purchased brand new as a self Christmas present. Fantastic device, but being a gamer I lack the time or enthusiasm to jump through hoops getting x86 software working through emulation. I purchased this out of curiosity since I have never owned a Mac and I can see why they are so popular with their target audience - especially productivity types. Most non-native apps designed for Intel cpu's run amazing via Rosetta 2 translation layer. You can use Crossover and Parallels to get windows apps running rather easily.

The screen is hands down the best you will find on a laptop. This series of Macbooks are the 1st to implement the fantastic mini-led tech. The mini led has 10k local dimming zones making it basically oled quality colour/contrast but without the drawback of screen burn-in (highly accurate gamut for creative pros and 1500nits of brightness for HDR support - most windows laptops top out at around 500-800). Retina resolution means it is such a high res you can't see pixels unless you basically get that close your eyes are practically touching it.  The 10k local dimming zones totally eliminate glowing areas when white is displayed. There are a select number of high-end windows laptops that now feature mini-led, but you'd be hard pressed to find one with over 1k. The webcam camera notch is intelligently designed so that it blends in with the bar at the top where you can see currently running apps. Webcam is 1080p high quality video and mic (webcams often claim 1080p, but the bitrates are that poor it might as well be 360p).

The trackpad and speakers are also by a country mile the best you will find on a laptop as of today and are a massive improvement over previous Macbooks. The swipe gestures and huge trackpad making navigating Mac OS effortless and fluid.

The battery is still at 100% health because in the little bit of use I have had with it I used software called AI dente to limit the battery to 50%. Apple also has its own built in battery protection by learning your usage patterns and charging to 100 only when you are about to use it. Battery life and performance is incredible thanks to Apple's new incredibly efficient 5nm cutting edge silicon. Being built on the same platform as newer iPads/iPhones means you can run apps created for those devices, which is nice.

The transition to Apple TSMC silicon represents a substantial upgrade from horribly inefficient old Intel playforms that used to thermal throttle - especially in a laptop form factor. The M1 max is therefore a great upgrade option and will see you through for many years to come with lasting software updates/comparability for the new Apple hardware platform. Subsequent Macbook releases will be very minimal improvements on the Apple silicon that serve little purpose other than to fulfil Apple's release schedule and please shareholders, so you are getting the most value and future-proofing here. Many apps now have native apple versions, which was not the case at launch, and more are constantly released (although I wouldn't worry about that because Rosetta 2 is almost native performance anyway)

If you are not a massive gamer, or at least only enjoy casual gaming or are satisfied enough with a smaller game library, you will be delighted with this flawless productivity/content consumption machine.

I have tested it with my average size north face backpack and it fits perfectly in that in case you wish to travel a lot with this.
