This is the last Macbook model that you can easily upgrade RAM and storage. There are two DRAM slots, currently its configuration is 2GBx2=4GB. You can easily upgrade it to up to max 16GB(8GBx2), or 8GB(4GBx2, only cost about $20 on Amazon). You can also buy a faster SSD drive (256GB, 500GB, 1TB, etc) and easily swap out the current 500GB hard drive, all just with a simple screw driver. It also has built-in DVD-burner (last Apple macbook that has this), you can read/write DVD,DVDR, DVDRW, etc.
You can upgrade its macOS to 10.13.6 High Sierra or 10.15 Catalina if you want, just one click in Apple AppStore.
