For sale is a Space Gray Apple MacBook Air 13” in the original M1 (2020) configuration. It was purchased new by myself on March 4th 2021 for $1249 and has been used lightly since then.
This Mac has seen minimal hours usage. No work use nor school use, but rather personal use only. Internet, email, and some Adobe photography app use. Absolutely zero signs of performance or battery deterioration. Only signs of use are minor nicks to the aluminum on either side (circled red in pictures).
This unit has the 512gb SDD with 8gb of RAM, but most importantly it has the “top shelf” processor spec. At the time Apple sold the “16 core neural engine” for the M1 and you got the 8 core CPU + 8 core GPU, or to save some money you could get the “binned” 8 core CPU + 7 core GPU. Essentially it was a performance derating from the Fab, and the 8+8 cost more.
I’m not sure if it makes a difference, but it increased the price. Basically the base price was $999 and I paid $250 to double the storage space and get the better processor. Apple only sells M1s with the 8+7 now. From an internet review:
“Driving this laptop are two versions of the M1 chip. The more expensive, $1249 model of the MBA gets a fully-enabled 8 CPU core plus 8 GPU core version of the M1. Meanwhile the entry-level $999 model gets a reduced 8 CPU/7 GPU version of the chip. This is apparently where Apple is sending binned/salvaged M1 chips, as TSMC’s 5nm process is no doubt temperamental in its early days. Unfortunately, not published in any Apple documentation are clockspeeds, so we have no idea how the two models will compare to each other in terms of performance beyond the influence of an 8th GPU core.”
Mac is reset, removed from Find My Friends, and ready for the next owner.
Auction will start on Friday, end on Friday, and ship the following Monday giving the buyer the weekend to pay.
Shipment goes next business day after receiving payment. Ships for free in a specifically designed laptop shipping box via UPS Ground.
I’m only selling this because I’m replacing it with an iPad Pro. Hoping to give the next owner a fair deal on a quality machine if they need MacOS! Starting bid at half the new price, no reserve.
Includes (1) 6’ genuine Apple USB-C to USB-C cable that came with the MacBook, but no power brick or any other accessories are included.
