IMPORTANT DETAILS

During disassembly a screw was unusually stubborn so I had to use my pliers to convince it a little...  I knicked a capacitor right above the hard drive SATA connector, it is still making a connection but it ripped up from the board a little, and I suspect at some point the hard drive wont read all of a sudden, or worse.

Does not affect functionality, but may in the future, in which case a motherboard for one of these can be found for around 40 dollars, I will send you a shipping label and do the repair should it fail.  I know it's not good at all, I assure you if you give me your trust you'll be taken care of.

The GPU must remain disabled for heat reasons, the VGA port and miniDP  is connected to the GPU so you will not get anything out of it and are untested, the DVD drive and LAN are also untested, along with the docking port and expansion card slot.  Everything that has been tested has functioned just fine, and it's a pretty  clean laptop besides that circle on the top.  The left click button also does not click, I don't think cleaning will help it.  There's two sets of mouse buttons on these laptops luckily...

So how does the 3940XM run? Pretty good!*

* In windows it runs very hot, in Qubes it's more manageable.  50-60 idling with a window or two open, I pushed it up to 80 running two youtube videos in two separate qubes, and a tor browser open in whonix. Also a couple terminals and settings menus which don't contribute much.  It ran comfortably and didn't choke, but if you push it too much it will thermal throttle.

Before Feb 10th I should be getting a t530 and a 3740QM.  I will put the 3940XM in the t530 and the 3740QM in here.  The thermals will not be a problem for either device then.  This is still viable if you have a light use case, and just need a secure platform that can actually run Qubes competently.  But if you're needing all the processor then this chip will thermal throttle constantly and then die after (??) months.  This is mainly up right now to gain interest as after I swap the chips the thermal issues will no longer exist and this will be all around solid. I'll also be adding a copper heat transfer tape to the heatsink pipes to further improve cooling.

On the way is also an Atheros wifi chip that will arrive before the 10th but will be forwarded to any buyer should anybody choose to purchase this listing as it is.  ME is cleaned and the flash chip is unlocked so you can internally flash.

Thank you very much for your interest, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!
